Recurring Events
Performance Nights
Six nights a year, with performance slots assigned by lottery — every member gets a fair shot at the spotlight.
Workshop Nights
Held the fourth Monday of the month — hands-on sessions for building and refining routines.
Guest Lectures
Visiting magicians share technique and theory. Free for members; $30 for non-member guests.
Magic Swap Meet
An annual gathering to buy, sell, and trade magic apparatus, books, and ephemera.
Close-Up Rotating Groups
Small-group sessions rotating through close-up magic in an intimate setting.
Secret Santa
A December tradition — members exchange magic-themed gifts to close out the year.
Annual General Meeting
The Society's formal AGM, where committee positions are elected and the year ahead is set.
Dinner & Awards Night
Our annual celebration each November — dinner, ceremony, and the presentation of WASM's major awards.
"Bring a Muggle" Open Meeting
Once a year, members bring a non-magician friend along for a short showcase of 5–15 minute performances — the friendliest way to see the Society in action.
Christmas in July
A mid-year festive meeting with a themed gift swap (~$20) and members performing their favourite Christmas-inspired magic effects.
The WASM Awards
Presented each year at the Dinner & Awards Night, voted on by the membership.
Bill Sykes Memorial Award
Magician of the Year — the Society's highest honour, awarded in memory of Bill Sykes.
Matt Armstrong Memorial Award
Club Member of the Year — honouring outstanding contribution to the Society itself.
Fred DeCampi Trophy
Awarded for the most creative magical performance of the year, in memory of our longest-serving member.
Most Improved Magician
Recognising the member who has grown the most in skill and confidence over the year.
