Alan Moore (Al Kazam)
PresidentAfter the 2026 AGM, Alan Moore stepped into the role of President — WASM's chairperson, consulting with the Secretary on committee business and presiding over meetings under the Society's constitution. He's hit the ground running, securing WASM's new home at the Belgian Beer Café's Le Roi Function Room and reinstating the club's alternating Closed and Open Meeting nights. Away from the gavel, he performs as Al Kazam the Magic Man®, one of Perth's most experienced children's entertainers, with nearly 30 years bringing interactive magic, balloon twisting, and music-based games to parties and schools across Australia and South East Asia.
Pierre-Ulric Achour
Vice President & EditorAs Vice President — the Society's deputy chairperson — Pierre-Ulric Achour steps in for the President when needed, helped secure WASM's new clubroom at the Belgian Beer Café, and edits the Society's newsletter, The Western Wand. A decorated close-up and strolling magician, he's a three-time WA Magician of the Year, National Strolling Magic Champion, and a featured performer on Penn & Teller's Fool Us — bringing the same polish to running the Society as he does to the stage.
Severine Weber (Crystal Carmine)
TreasurerAs Honorary Treasurer, Severine Weber carries the constitutional duties of the role: collecting membership fees and issuing receipts, banking WASM's funds, ensuring payments are made on time, keeping the Society's financial records, and assisting WASM's Auditors each year. She's members' first point of contact for any questions about fees or payment arrangements — helping keep the Society's finances, and its $50 membership cap, running smoothly for another year.
Ian Moffat
SecretaryAs Honorary Secretary, Ian Moffat carries the constitutional duties of the role: handling the Society's correspondence, maintaining the register of members, preparing notices for meetings, and keeping full and accurate minutes of every committee and general meeting — the administrative backbone that keeps WASM running smoothly between gatherings.
Jon Madd
ProducerAs WASM's Producer, Jon Madd curates the performer line-up for the Society's Open Meeting showcases — members looking to perform need only get in touch with him. A Perth close-up and card magician in his own right, Jon is an Australia's Got Talent alumnus and a regular at Burswood and Perth Fringe World.
Vince Haines (Pop Magic)
Past PresidentVince Haines led WASM as President through the Society's landmark centenary years, and built and maintained wasm.com.au for years afterwards. Performing as Pop Magic, he's practised the craft since the 1970s, and today brings stage shows, strolling magic, and costumed character appearances to parties and corporate events right across Perth.
Andy Brown
Librarian & Past PresidentAndy Brown is the custodian of WASM's reference library — the collection every member can borrow from to study the craft — and a former Society President in his own right, once interviewed on ABC radio about the club and its history.
Nathan Buzza
Auditor & Web MasterNathan Buzza serves as one of WASM's two Auditors, independently reviewing the Society's accounts each year, and as Web Master, keeping wasm.com.au running for the membership. Outside the Society, Nathan is the founder and CEO of Illuminati Magic, a Perth-based electronic-mentalism technology company supplying professional performers in over 80 countries. His earlier career spans three ASX-listed medical-technology ventures — including founding CommtechWireless, grown to 8,000 sites across 53 countries before its 2008 sale — and the 2005 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award (WA).
Conny Torney
Auditor & Welfare OfficerConny Torney shares the Society's auditing duties and serves as Welfare Officer, keeping an eye on the wellbeing of WASM's members — the person to reach out to if anything's amiss.
Dominic Miles
Committee MemberAn elegant, sophisticated card magician known for close-up sleight of hand, Dominic Miles brings that same craftsmanship to his role on the WASM committee, helping shape the Society's activities and events.
Krishna Hefferon
Committee MemberOne of WASM's newest members, Krishna Hefferon wasted no time getting involved — performing magic for the club just weeks after joining — and has since taken a seat on the committee to help shape the Society's year ahead.
John Cassell
Committee MemberJohn Cassell serves on the WASM committee, contributing to the day-to-day running of the Society and supporting the club's activities and events throughout the year.
